Supporting Statement

I have had the pleasure of watching Claudia McWhirter’s career develop since she joined Beijer Ref UK & Ireland in 2021. Despite entering the HVACR industry with no previous experience, she has consistently excelled in every role she has undertaken.

Claudia began her career as an Internal Sales Specialist at Dean & Wood Glasgow before moving to the Leeds head office to join the Fridge Direct team, supporting customers across Scotland and Ireland. She later progressed to Area Sales Manager within the refrigeration projects team, where she built strong customer relationships and became a trusted contact for contractors throughout Scotland and Northern Ireland. Earlier this year, she moved into her current role as an MHI Q-Ton Specification Sales Engineer, successfully transitioning into the growing heat pump sector.

Throughout her career, Claudia has demonstrated exceptional dedication, not only achieving excellent results in her own roles but also supporting colleagues and helping to train new team members. She is committed to continuous learning and has completed a range of industry training courses, including Institute of Refrigeration (IOR) WiRACHP events, CO₂ refrigeration training, and sustainability studies undertaken in her own time.

Beyond her day-to-day role, Claudia is passionate about promoting and supporting the HVACR industry. She is a committee member of the IOR Scotland branch, actively involved with the IOR Women in RACHP (WiRACHP) group, and has contributed to STEM outreach through the STEMazing programme. She has also participated in activities with the Women’s Engineering Society, demonstrating her commitment to encouraging others into the industry.

What stands out most about Claudia is her work ethic, professionalism, and ability to build lasting customer relationships. She consistently goes above and beyond for her customers and colleagues, earning a reputation as a reliable, knowledgeable, and trusted professional.

Based on her achievements, dedication, and positive impact on both her company and the wider industry, I believe Claudia McWhirter is a highly deserving recipient of the HVR Rising Star Award.
