Introduction to Samuel
Samuel Saunders joined Carrier Commercial HVAC in September 2023 as a Level 5 Digital Marketing Apprentice at Nescot College. Initially recruited to support social media activity and provide administrative assistance to the marketing team, his role was deliberately modest in scope, reflecting both his early career stage and the expectations of the apprenticeship programme.
In less than three years, Samuel has progressed into a central and trusted member of Carrier Commercial HVAC’s marketing and communications function. He is currently completing a Digital Marketing Degree Apprenticeship at London South Bank University, balancing a demanding academic workload alongside responsibilities that extend well beyond those originally envisaged for his role.
Samuel represents the qualities of a true rising star: commitment to learning, a strong work ethic, professional maturity and a willingness to take on responsibility whenever needed.
Type of Work Undertaken
Samuel’s role has developed significantly since joining the business. He now supports a broad range of marketing and business activities, including event management, campaign support, stakeholder communications, reporting and operational coordination.
A particular area of responsibility has been the delivery of major customer events. Within his first two months at Carrier, Samuel supported a major customer conference at Wembley. One year later, he played a key role in supporting the delivery of Carrier’s flagship customer event at Silverstone for more than 200 attendees.
His responsibilities included venue liaison, site surveys, attendee management, merchandise planning, speaker coordination, AV and staging logistics, security coordination and support for on-the-day team management. Samuel then played a vital role in key planning and guest management activities for Carrier’s 2026 customer conference at The Dorchester, demonstrating the trust placed in him by senior leadership.
Alongside events, Samuel produces monthly marketing and PR reports for European stakeholders, liaises with Carrier’s European marketing teams and supports campaign activity across multiple territories. He also undertakes purchase order and invoicing coordination, supplier liaison and office coordination responsibilities.
Training Undertaken
Samuel began his development through a Level 5 Digital Marketing apprenticeship before progressing to a Digital Marketing Degree Apprenticeship at London South Bank University.
His studies encompass modules including Principles of Marketing, Marketing in a Digital World, Campaign Management, Media Planning and Strategic Brand Management. By August 2026, he will have completed 17 academic modules and his End Point Assessment.
Alongside formal education, Samuel has demonstrated a commitment to personal development. Early feedback identified a reluctance to engage directly by telephone. Acting on this feedback, he worked to develop his communication skills and now regularly leads calls with suppliers, agencies and internal stakeholders with confidence and professionalism.
How Samuel Has Excelled
Samuel’s progression within Carrier has been exceptional. Through dedication, reliability and professional maturity, he has expanded his responsibilities far beyond those associated with a typical apprenticeship role.
During a period of organisational change, including the integration of Service and Commercial marketing activities, Samuel absorbed additional responsibilities while helping maintain continuity across the marketing function. He has become a key point of contact between UK, Nordic and European teams, supporting collaboration and ensuring information flows effectively between stakeholders.
Senior colleagues value his solution-focused approach, resilience and ability to remain composed under pressure. He consistently anticipates challenges, takes ownership of tasks and delivers work to a high standard.
The trust placed in Samuel is reflected not only in the scale of projects he supports, but also in the additional responsibilities he has assumed, including office coordination duties, first-aid and fire-marshalling responsibilities and facilities liaison.
In a relatively short period of time, Samuel has established himself as an important and dependable member of the business whose contribution supports both day-to-day operations and high-profile customer-facing activities.
