Details of the project/initiative

Ideal Boilers donated its two millionth Logic boiler to Emmaus, a charity dedicated to improving the lives of homeless people across the UK.

The choice of Emmaus, which supports more than 750 formerly homeless people, by providing them with a home for as long as they need it and work in social enterprises, was particularly relevant to Ideal Boilers because the charity had just opened a shop in the company’s hometown of Hull.

Emmaus also has ambitious plans for the future and hopes to be helping 1,000 people by 2020.

The aim of the project

The donation had two key objectives.

Firstly to help, in a very practical way, a family enjoy the home comforts of a reliable source of heating and hot water, something that most of us take for granted, but that homeless people must live without.

Secondly the boiler donation was presented by Ideal Boiler’s Area Sales Manager Luke King, at a special reception to promote the work of Emmaus’ new shop in Hull. It therefore generated wider publicity for the charity’s vital work, not only in Hull, but nationwide because the donation received coverage in the heating industry’s trade press.

Community/individual testimonial

Emmaus Enterprise Manager, Simon Collinge, said: “We are extremely touched and grateful to receive the donation from Ideal Boilers.

“We value all our relationships with local businesses, particularly those with such strong ties to the City of Hull. This donation will help tremendously in raising the profile of homelessness and important funds for our community. The boiler will provide one lucky household with the warmth our formerly homeless companions have themselves, in the past, gone without.

“Every pound spent in one of our enterprises, which include cafés, house clearance businesses, gardening projects and clothing shops, supports our wider approach to reducing homelessness and helping people get back on their feet,” he added.

Ideal Boiler’s Area Sales Manager Luke King, said: “This is a fantastic charity doing vital work for homeless people in our hometown of Hull. So we’re delighted as a business our two millionth Logic boiler is helping such a worthy cause.”
